Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao Receives 9th Prof. M.S. Swaminathan Award For Climate-Resilient Agriculture

HYDERABAD: Dr Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director and Vice-Chancellor of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), was conferred the prestigious 9th Prof. M.S. Swaminathan Award during a ceremony here on Friday.

Instituted by the Retired ICAR Employees Association in collaboration with Nuziveedu Seeds Limited, the award honours agricultural scientists for bolstering India’s food security. This edition gains added significance as it coincides with the birth centenary of Prof. Swaminathan, father of India’s Green Revolution.

The event was attended by former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Nuziveedu Seeds chairman Mandava Prabhakar Rao, and association president Vidya Sagar Rao.

Dr Rao earned recognition for his groundbreaking work in climate-resilient agriculture and natural resource management. Under his guidance, resource conservation technologies have scaled across millions of hectares, while district-level contingency plans have boosted nationwide agricultural sustainability.
