Dr P. Srihari Appointed RCI Director In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Dr P. Srihari, Outstanding Scientist with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), took charge as director of the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, on Tuesday. He has been associated with the multi-mode radar for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) and later worked on the long range tracking radar under the Ballistic Missile Defence programme, DRDO said in a statement.

After joining DRDL Hyderabad, he worked on interceptor missile systems, including the divert and attitude control system. He was also part of the core group for the March 2019 anti-satellite test, the organisation said.

In 2019, Dr Srihari became project director of the medium range surface-to-air missile programme for the Indian Air Force. The first firing unit was inducted in October 2021, while production lines for the remaining units were subsequently established, according to DRDO.

Dr Srihari became project director of Programme Air Defence in 2021 and programme director of Programme Air Defence/BMD in 2022. He has won the Agni award for excellence in self-reliance, DRDO award for pathbreaking research and Scientist of the Year. He has also published more than 10 papers on missile systems, DRDO said.
