Duke Blue Devils cornerback Kimari Robinson has shared an apology statement after a video showed him swatting away a female athletic trainer. She was trying to assist his injured teammate during a college football game. However, Kimari’s violent reaction has drawn criticism on the internet. Meanwhile, a separate video from an earlier game against Georgia Tech has also resurfaced, drawing more attention to Kimari’s conduct.
Kimari Robinson issues apology after incident with the trainer
Kimari Robinson issued a public apology to acknowledge that he was wrong in his behavior during Duke’s game against North Carolina. The incident took place during the Blue Devils’ 24-20 loss, when his teammate DaShawn was injured. In turn, he remained on the field. When a female athletic trainer approached to provide medical assistance, Kimar was standing nearby. When she tried to move him out of the way, Kimari appeared to forcefully swipe her hand away from his chest.

In turn, the trainer was startled by his reaction, and the footage went viral online, drawing criticism. In his statement, Kimari revealed that he had apologized to the trainer personally after the game and confirmed if she was okay. He explained that DaShawn Stone was like family to him. So, he was scared by the possibility that he was seriously injured. In his words:
“I want to publicly apologize to the member of our training staff for how I acted toward her during Saturday’s game. I was completely wrong, and she did not deserve that.”
Kimari also mentioned that his concern for his teammate did not justify his actions. He added that he should have controlled his emotions. Therefore, he apologized in the public statement for letting his trainer, himself, and the Duke football program down.
For those who don’t know, Kimari Robinson is a junior cornerback for the Duke Blue Devils Football team. He wears jersey No. 5. He is originally from Miramar, Florida. Kimari joined the program as a three-star recruit and gradually established himself as a regular member of the team’s defense.
Kimari became a more consistent starter during the 2025 season. He made nine starts across 11 games. Towards the end of that season, he got 34 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery. However, his apology meant he recognized the seriousness of his behavior. For now, Duke head coach Manny Diaz has not given any statement on hissuspension in the case. Still, they mentioned that the disciplinary matters would be handled internally.
Old video from Georgia Tech Game also shows Duke’s player’s alleged wrong conduct
The controversy took a new turn after another video from Duke’s October 10, 2026 game against Georgia surfaced on the internet.

The footage showed a player appearing to swipe at a member of stadium personnel. The incident took place near the tunnel as the Blue Devils came to the locker room before the game. He was seen involved in a verbal exchange with the staff member before making physical contact.
Until now, the exact circumstances leading to the confrontation remain unclear. According to the visuals, the player was wearing jersey number 5, but two players wore the same number. They were Kimari Robinson and wide receiver Javen Nicholas. So, it is still not clear if it was Kimari. Meanwhile, neither Kimari nor the Duke Program gave any reaction to it. If it is indeed Kimari, then it raises further questions about his conduct.
