Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government is implementing a comprehensive action plan to make all municipalities dumping yard-free, municipal administration and urban development minister Dr P. Narayana said on Tuesday.
Reviewing solid waste management initiatives with officials of the Swachh Andhra Corporation and municipal commissioners, the minister directed authorities to ensure that all solid waste generated each day is collected, transported and scientifically processed on the same day across the state.
Officials informed the minister that municipal waste from several urban local bodies is already being transported to waste-to-energy plants in Visakhapatnam and Guntur for scientific processing.
They said the government is also establishing fresh waste processing plants in other municipalities to enable environmentally sustainable processing of newly generated solid waste.
