Comedy series Dupahiya is all set to return with a bang. Yes, you read it right. Sparsh Shrivastava as ‘Bhugol Jha’ is returning with Dupahiya Season 2. Alongside Sparsh, Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Bhuvan Arora will be seen reprising their roles in the upcoming season. According to reports, Bhojpuri actor and singer Dinesh Lal Yadav a.k.a. Nirahua will join the cast this time.
What happens in Dupahiya Season 2?
The story returns to the same village, Dhadakpur. ‘Banwari’ owns a piece of land that is not useful for farming, and thus it is selected for the installation of a mobile tower. However, the villagers of Dhadakpur become worried and start blaming the tower for all kinds of problems, from typhoid to even tsunamis, even though there is no clear proof of it.
‘Bhugol’ has become famous on social media, but interestingly, people online think that he is a female influencer. On the other hand, his sister, ‘Roshni’, is preparing for the SSC exam, but she finds it very difficult and feels that passing would be almost impossible. ‘Roshni’s’ ex-boyfriend, ‘Amawas’, wants to help her. He openly shows that he still has feelings for her. However, ‘Roshni’ has little time to prepare for the exam as the deadline is near. Meanwhile, ‘Inspector Mithlesh’ investigates the mobile tower project and suspects that there might be a scam behind it.
Recap of Dupahiya Season 1
Dupahiya is set in Dhadakpur, a village that proudly claims to be a crime-free area. The story begins when ‘Roshni’ (played by Shivani Raghuvanshi) is supposed to get married to a man named ‘Kuber’ (played by Avinash Dwivedi) who hails from a wealthy family. ‘Kuber’ demands an expensive Royal Enfield Bullet as dowry. ‘Banwari Jha’ (played by Gajraj Rao), father of ‘Roshni’, somehow manages to buy the bike. But before the wedding, the Bullet is stolen.
This incident becomes a huge problem for ‘Banwari’ as he believes that if ‘Roshni’s’ wedding gets cancelled, he will also lose the opportunity to get a permanent position as the village school principal. To keep the bike safe, ‘Banwari’ had kept it securely inside the village school where he serves as the temporary principal. The person who steals the bike is a masked man working for the village sarpanch.
The sarpanch secretly wants to damage Dhadakpur’s reputation and create issues for ‘Pushplata’ (played by Renuka Shahane), who is getting influential and powerful. ‘Pushplata’s’ daughter and ‘Roshni’s’ friend, ‘Nirmal’, sees ‘Banwari’s’ son, ‘Bhugol’, and his friend taking the Bullet out to make an Instagram Reel. However, they lose the bike. Meanwhile, ‘Nirmal’ discloses where the bike is to the masked thief.
‘Nirmal’ helps the thief because she is jealous of ‘Roshni’ and feels that people like her more because of her fair skin and beauty. While ‘Nirmal’ does not plan the theft herself, she accidentally helps the actual thief find the bike. To solve the chaos, ‘Bhugol’ and ‘Roshni’s’ ex-boyfriend ‘Amawas’ comes up with the plan to find another second-hand bike. However, their plan fails, and the situation becomes more complicated.
The stolen Bullet is eventually found, but by that point, ‘Roshni’ decides not to marry ‘Kuber’. She understood that ‘Kuber’ had more interest in the bike rather than marrying her. After cancelling the wedding, ‘Roshni’ decides that she does not need a husband or marriage to leave the village. She tells ‘Kuber’ that she will go to the city herself by studying hard and building her own future. At the end of the series, ‘Pushplata’ makes the villagers understand that Dhadakpur was never truly crime-free because dowry was already a major issue prevalent in the village.
