An e-bike rider has died after being hit by a car just after sunset on a suburban road in Brisbane’s south.
Police said the 33-year-old Holland Park man collided with a Suzuki Impreza on Chatsworth Road in Coorparoo at about 6.30pm on Wednesday.
The rider was transported to the nearby Princess Alexandra Hospital, but he was later declared deceased.
The car’s 28-year-old driver was not injured.
Forensic crash investigators are looking into the accident, and police are appealing to the public for any vision of the crash or its lead-up.
It is the second death involving e-mobility devices in the state after Queensland introduced tougher laws aimed at ensuring the safety of riders.
A 13-year-old boy died last month after he crashed on an e-scooter while not wearing a helmet.
The laws mean only people over 16 with valid drivers’ licences can ride the devices, and are the first of their kind in the country.
