Former EastEnders star Bobby Brazier has revealed he’s turning his back on the United Kingdom and will instead be starting afresh in the United States in just a matter of weeks

A former EastEnders star is ditching the UK for America. Bobby Brazier, who played Freddie Slater on the BBC soap opera, is today celebrating his 23rd birthday, but his life is set to look extremely different.

Just last year, Bobby left his role in Albert Square, with viewers seeing him travel with his on-screen girlfriend, Anna Knight, as the pair embarked on a backpacking journey. But now he’s going to pack his bags in real life and jet Stateside next month.

In recent years, Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier’s eldest son has turned his back on the limelight, focusing instead on himself and his religious journey. In a street-casting video on social media, Bobby was seen walking down a London street when he was approached by a modelling scout.

“I’m actually moving to New York, soon,” he said when asked if he would be available to participate in a quick photo shoot. When asked which area of New York, the actor and model responded: “Well, I say New York, New Jersey.”

After the scout explained he was travelling to New York himself, Bobby suggested that they carry out the test shoot in the city that never sleeps. But he didn’t reveal why he’s decided to move to the States.

After Bobby’s exit from EastEnders, he began devoting his time to the Hare Krishna movement, which sources claimed stems from family tensions and his longing for happiness after a difficult childhood.

Bobby has become increasingly open about his devotion to a branch of Hinduism. He has recently been sharing posts on social media about how it has transformed his outlook on life.

He explained that through his relationship with God, he had finally found what he had been searching for following the emotional difficulties he had faced since his mother Jade Goody died when he was only five years old.

In one Instagram Reel about a trip to India, he said: “It doesn’t get better than this. I have no real devotion, but by the mercy of the holy name and those great souls who do, I get to experience a little taste of their love of God and pray that this impression won’t leave me. Man, it’s so amazing.”

And he’s no stranger to the Hare Krishna temple in Soho, London. A volunteer told the Daily Mail last year: “He’s here every Saturday without fail. He joins our kitchen session, learns the prayers – this isn’t a gimmick.”

Bobby even moved out of his dad’s home in Essex, to an apartment in Soho close to the temple. A family source said: “Bobby’s always had a spiritual side, but this is intentional. It’s clear he’s trying to leave all the fighting and noise behind.”

The actor himself has described how the practice has brought him inner peace. In an Instagram video, he said: “What I feel like I’m saying is that I know where happiness is and I know where happiness is not.

“And my relationship with God is absolutely everything that I’m looking for and always have been looking for and always will be looking for. That’s where it lies and nowhere else.”
