Jessica Plummer, who played Chantelle Atkins on EastEnders, has revealed she is in a relationship as she soft-launched her new man with a mirror selfie on her Instagram Stories

EastEnders star Jessica Plummer has debuted her new boyfriend on social media more than three years after splitting from Ben Hardy.

The 33-year-old actress and singer, who played the role of Chantelle Atkins on the BBC soap opera from March 2019 until September 2020, took to her Instagram Stories to share a photo of herself with her partner. In the mirror selfie, taken inside a lift, Jessica can be seen smiling as the man plants a kiss on her lips.

The actress played Kendrick Lamar’s song LOVE over the snap, which represents the first time she has shared news of her relationship with her 276,000 followers. She hasn’t revealed the man’s identity, but according to a source, they have been seeing each other “for a while”.

“He’s not Jessica’s new man, they’ve been seeing each other for a while,” an insider told The Sun. “She just felt like now was the right time to share the news with fans.”

The social media soft launch comes more than three years after Jessica and Hollywood star Ben, 35, announced their split. The former couple sparked romance rumours in the summer of 2021 after meeting on the set of the BBC/HBO psychological thriller series The Girl Before.

They publicly confirmed their relationship in December 2021 when they were photographed together in London. However, the couple broke up after 18 months of dating due to conflicting work schedules pulling them apart.

One source told us in March 2023: “Ben and Jessica were besotted with each other but work has meant they spent a lot of time apart. Over time its taken its toll and recently they decided to call it a day.”

While Ben’s acting breakthrough came with EastEnders, Jessica had enjoyed chart success with girl group Neon Jungle before playing Chantelle Atkins in the soap from 2019 to 2020. And she appeared on I’m A Celebrity in 2020, before taking on the role of Emma Matthews in The Girl Before – alongside Ben as her partner, Simon.

He had just split from actress Olivia Cooke, while Jessica was also single after ending a long-term relationship with her ex-partner, Jaz. The former couple share a daughter together named Noa Lilly, who was born in 2016. They separated dynamic but continue to co-parent their daughter.

After EastEnders, Jessica starred as Emma in the BBC/HBO drama The Girl Before, securing a BAFTA Television Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In 2023, she appeared opposite David Oyelowo in the Academy Award-nominated short film The After.

In 2024, she portrayed a leading role in Netflix’s dark comedy period series, The Decameron. She recently also starred in Netflix’s thriller adaptation of the Harlan Coben novel Missing You.
