When a restaurant sounds like a mantra for life, you know you’re in for a good time. At Eat Pierogi Make Love, the service is sweet and easy, the vodka menu is epic, there are cartoons playing on the wall, and a statue of the Virgin Mary oversees the whole Polish soul food extravaganza.
Slide into a booth for pan-fried mushroom and sauerkraut pierogi plated on a sweet onion, celeriac and apple puree, or joyously rough-and-ready beef ones with a chunky bacon and onion “sauce”.
Other dishes include a cobby potato pancake, sitting pretty in pink whipped trout. One stab and an emerald lava of fragrant garlic chives comes billowing out, so every forkful is a lavish mix of potato, herb and sweet seafood. Dessert could be the doughnut of the day, a classic cheesecake dashed with tart red currant sauce and, natch, a trio of sweet vodka shots.
Good to know: Monday nights are all-you-can-eat pierogi for $39.
