Ed Sheeran’s new support acts have been confirmed after all of his openers pulled out of his LOOP Tour in solidarity with Macklemore, who was dropped for his pro-Palestine actions
Ed Sheeran has confirmed the support acts set to join him for his remaining LOOP Tour dates, after his previous performers all refused to work with him.
Previously, all of his opening acts on the North American leg of the tour pulled out in solidarity with Macklemore.
The rapper was dramatically axed from the line-up after voicing his support for Palestine while on stage at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The musician, whose real name is Benjamin Haggerty, 43, said he wanted people in Gaza and the West Bank to know they haven’t been forgotten.
He said the only reason he said yes to the tour was to speak on a huge platform; the singer said this was at odds with Ed’s ‘apolitical stance.’ A petition was launched demanding he be removed from the remaining dates of the tour.

But after he was pulled from the tour, of which Ed, 35, said he was “not complicit” in the decision, Ed’s remaining support acts, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham, Finneas and Beoga all withdrew in support of Macklemore. Now, the new support acts have been confirmed after Ed opened his Philadelphia performance without an opening act.
Former lead singer of The Fray, Isaac Slade, opened for the musician in Atlanta over the weekend. It was later confirmed that Isaac would open the rest of the tour.
Taking to Instagram, Isaac shared a screenshot of his Notes app, revealing he would be opening in Indianapolis on October 10, Charlotte on October 17, Arlington on October 24, and Tampa on November 7.
Captioning his post, Isaac said: “See you out there,” alongside a red heart emoji. Elsewhere, former American Idol contestant Brooks Rosser will make his debut performance after appearing on the show earlier this year.
Taking to Instagram, he said: “My first show since American Idol, and it’s at Lucas Oil Stadium opening for @teddysphotos. I’m beyond excited and grateful. See you Saturday.” But despite Brooks’s excitement, his social media followers were far from impressed.
“Ew. Sell out,” said one alongside the Palestinian flag. A second added: “Dang, love your voice and voted for you every week on the show. Extremely disappointed to see this and hope you are having real conversations about what’s going on in the world and why people are so upset. Best of luck!”
However, many were excited for him: “That’s absolutely incredible,” said one. While a second added: “This is insane.” Not long after the furore surrounding the tour, Ed revealed that he was “afraid” of his audience as he returned to the stage.
As his return concert in Philadelphia neared the end, Ed told the crowd he was unsure how the crowd would react to him. Speaking on stage, Ed said: “The show itself, at this point in the show, to be honest, like I usually go out to B stage, and I’m gonna be totally honest with you, I didn’t know what the audience would be like tonight.
“I didn’t know if I was going to have things thrown at me. I didn’t know if people would be angry at me.”
