Eight kittens and their mother found in a bag in France

Eight kittens and their mother were found in a bag in a private garden in Quincy-sous-Sénart, near Paris, France.

French newspaper Le Parisien reported that the cats were discovered earlier in the week. A woman who called an animal protection group told the newspaper that the animals were inside a bag.

The Stéphane Lamart Association took some of the cats into care and filed a complaint against. The association’s president, Stéphane Lamart, said he believed someone had thrown the bag over the gate.

The report comes as animal shelters in France face pressure. In its summer 2026 report, the animal welfare organisation SPA said it had taken in more than 9,500 animals during July and August. It said the large number of kittens had placed extra demands on volunteer foster families.
