Emilia shared the details of the medical emergencies that emerged during that time while speaking in the latest episode of the podcast, How to Fail with Elizabeth Day, on May 13, 2026.

It featured the snap of a shadow of two people cuddling. The picture was taken at a beach. Emilia Clarke opens up about her brain hemorrhages in the podcast
While speaking on the How To Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast on May 13, 2026, Emilia Clarke shared the impact of her second brain hemorrhage. Emilia said that there was a point where she believed that she had cheated death, and she might die. She claimed that she was feeling the same thing every day. Notably, the first hemorrhage happened after Emilia finished filming the first season of Game of Thrones.
Emilia Clarke said that she had once collapsed inside a gym and was later vomiting, when she realised that there was something wrong with her brain. Clarke said that while the doctors could not diagnose her problem in the beginning, she visited a specialist hospital. This was followed by a brain scan. Emila later tried to convince the HBO officials that she would recover slowly. Clarke recalled the experience and said:
“I was so ashamed that this thing had happened and that the people who had employed me might see me as weak or see me as something that could be broken.”
Except for the showrunners of Game of Thrones, Emilia did not reveal her health issue to anyone. However, the second hemorrhage affected her emotionally since she became hypersensitive. She also had a fear when she was having a headache. Emilia opened up on the condition by saying:
“When you have a brain injury, you move around in the world differently. You become very sensitive.”
