HYDERABAD: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Zonal Office Telangana, along with its regional offices, welcomed the enhancement of the wage ceiling for mandatory coverage from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month, effective September 17, 2026.
Employees in the ₹15,000–₹25,000 wage band who were earlier outside automatic coverage will now come within the statutory social‑security framework, subject to scheme provisions, a press release said.
With this enhancement, the government estimated annual expenditure at about ₹11,339 crore, compared with existing support of ₹10,250 crore. The five‑year expenditure is projected at ₹56,696 crore.
The wage ceiling was last revised in September 2014, when it was raised to ₹15,000. Since then, wages and cost of living have increased substantially. EPFO offices said they would ensure eligible employees, employers and stakeholders are informed about the revised ceiling and provisions.
