Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was punished for timewasting and Pedro Neto was booked for protesting the decision during a fractious start to the Blues’ trip to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Argentina international Martinez conceded a corner because referee Paul Tierney adjudged the new Chelsea signing to have held on to the ball for too long after saving Merlin Rohl’s shot.
Thierno Barry headed the ensuing corner straight at Martinez, who tipped Jack Grealish’s shot over the crossbar shortly afterwards.

Everton vs Chelsea: Five early bookings in Premier League
Chelsea received three of the five bookings between the teams inside the first 34 minutes of the game, leading former England defender Stuart Pearce to fear for the prospects of neither team losing a player.
“I’m really enjoying this game but I just hope the referee doesn’t overdo the bookings and get forced into sending someone off,” said Pearce, who was known for his uncompromising style during his playing career, speaking on TalkSport.
“It would spoil a really good, full-blooded game that we’ve got in front of us.”
The Toffees and Brentford are the only teams aside from leaders Manchester City to remain unbeaten after the first six matches of the top-flight season, although they have joined the Bees in drawing four of those games.
