Fantasy Premier League 2026/27: Five players to axe ahead of Gameweek 6

The international break has given Fantasy Premier League managers plenty to think about. Injuries have hit several popular players, while some of the season’s early stars are heading into much tougher fixtures. With Gameweek 6 approaching, these are five players worth dumping from your rosters.

Dominik Szoboszlai

    Price: 6.9m
    Ownership: 32.3%
    Position: Midfielder
    Opponent : MCI (H), BRE (A), BHA (H)

Szoboszlai remains in roughly a third of FPL squads, but the numbers are getting harder to defend. His only attacking return in five matches was a penalty against Newcastle in Gameweek 1. He has created three big chances, so the creativity is there, but has managed just one shot inside the box all season. That is a problem for a 6.9m midfielder when cheaper alternatives are getting into far more dangerous positions. Liverpool now face Manchester City, Brentford and Brighton before Arsenal in Gameweek 9. Even with his set-piece duties, there is little in that run to suggest a sudden surge in points. If your squad is otherwise healthy, Szoboszlai looks like a sensible sell.

    Alexander Isak

      Price: 9.1m
      Ownership: 21.9%
      Position: Forward
      Opponent: MCI (H), BRE (A), BHA (H)

Four goals in five matches is hardly a reason to panic, and Isak has certainly delivered for owners so far. The concern is what comes next. The Liverpool forward returned from Sweden duty with a thigh problem, described by national team boss Graham Potter as minor, but his fitness for Gameweek 6 still needs confirming. At 9.1m, he is an expensive player to carry if there is serious doubt over his minutes. The fixture list hardly offers much comfort either. Manchester City, Brentford and Brighton are up next, followed by Arsenal. Isak can score against anyone, so this is a conditional sell rather than an automatic one. If the injury restricts his involvement, that money could be better spent elsewhere.

      Maxim De Cuyper

        Price: 5.0m
        Ownership: 28.3%
        Position: Defender
        Opponent: SUN (A), CRY (H), LIV (A)

De Cuyper has been one of the great early-season FPL finds. Listed as a defender but often playing on Brighton’s left wing, he has collected 38 points, with a goal, three assists and three clean sheets. He has also created 11 chances, more than any other defender. You can see exactly why managers have rushed to bring him in. The concern is whether those returns can continue at this rate. Brighton rank only 14th for expected goals conceded, while the returning Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh could threaten De Cuyper’s advanced role. Sunderland and Crystal Palace are decent short-term fixtures, but Liverpool and Manchester City follow. He’s worth keeping if you own him, but I’d think twice before buying now.

        Brian Brobbey

          Price: 5.7m
          Ownership: 6.8%
          Position: Forward
          Opponent: BHA (A), BOU (A), LEE (H)

A hat-trick away at Manchester City is the sort of performance that sends FPL managers straight to the transfer page. Brobbey scored 17 points in Gameweek 5, having blanked in each of the previous four, and almost 200,000 managers have already brought him in during the break. That feels like a lot of faith in one explosive afternoon. The bigger worry is his hamstring. Brobbey lasted just 35 minutes for the Netherlands against Germany before coming off injured, and Sunderland have yet to confirm how long he could be out. Brighton, Bournemouth and Leeds are tempting opponents, but they mean very little if he cannot start. Wait for a clean bill of health before chasing his points.

          Joao Pedro

            Price: 7.7m
            Ownership: 64.4%
            Position: Forward
            Opponent: BOU (H), EVE (A), TOT (H)

João Pedro is one of the hardest decisions facing FPL managers this week. His three goals and three assists made him a brilliant early pick, but a knee injury kept him out of Chelsea’s Gameweek 5 defeat to Brentford. Xabi Alonso has expressed hope that he will return against Bournemouth, although there is still no guarantee he is ready for a full match. That uncertainty matters when you are spending 7.7m on a forward. Bournemouth, Everton and Tottenham offer genuine attacking potential, so owners should not sell simply because he is flagged. However, buying him before the final team news is an unnecessary gamble. If his minutes remain restricted, the points could easily dry up for a couple of weeks.
