
Farhan Akhtar is expanding his creative footprint with a new venture into music. The actor-filmmaker and Ritesh Sidhwani have announced the launch of Excel Music, a dedicated music label under Excel Entertainment. Universal Music Group backs the label as a strategic shareholder and its marketing and distribution partner.
Its first release will be the soundtrack album of Mirzapur: The Movie, which hits cinemas on September 4, 2026. Leading the album is its first song featuring Dhanda, one of the biggest names in the Haryanvi music industry, marking his much-awaited Bollywood debut. The track is set to release this week.
For over two decades, Excel Entertainment has delivered some of Indian cinema’s most celebrated films, with music remaining at the heart of its storytelling. From the iconic albums of Dil Chahta Hai, Lakshya, Rock On!!, Karthik Calling Karthik, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do, Baar Baar Dekho, Raees, and Gully Boy, the production house has created music that continues to resonate with audiences across generations.
Excel Music will be home to original film soundtracks and scores from Excel Entertainment’s slate, alongside music from films by leading filmmakers and production houses across India.
