Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are due to get married this week, with New York’s Madison Square Garden rumoured to host their wedding

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are preparing to cement their love story in just a few short days. All the signs are pointing to the couple walking down the aisle in New York city, surrounded by their family, showbiz pals and millions of locals on the doorstep.

The Cruel Summer singer and Kansas City tight-end, both 36, announced their engagement last summer, after around two years of dating. Ever since that loved-up Instagram post, all eyes have been on where the pair will tie the knot, and what their big day will involve.

Rumours have gone into overdrive after the iconic Madison Square Gardens has been swarmed by security this week with busy assistants even rolling out an actual red carpet – perfect for a VIP guest or two.

Here is all we know about their big day, and all the clues the showbiz wedding of the year is taking place this week!

Venue

It is widely believed that they will be exchanging vows in New York City, with part of their celebrations taking place at Madison Square Garden – where the musician has performed countless times.

The New York Times previously reported that the iconic arena – home of the Knicks – had been rented out for a multi-day event by Winick Productions, for use between July 2-4. The public calendar for the stadium between those dates is surprisingly empty, with the next event listed as a Bon Jovi gig on July 7.

Although their plans have been kept under lock and key, CBS News reports that they were planning a rehearsal dinner at the Infosys Theater, located in the arena, with around 100 people.

It is thought that a much bigger celebration will take place on Friday night, which could accommodate about 1,000 guests – the arena itself has a capacity of 22,000.

Permits were also filed for street closures directly around the venue. The hosts were given permission to shut down the area, as well as setting up a canopy outside – also enabling trucks to be unloaded in the vicinity.

New York City Hall spokesperson Dora Pekec confirmed the existence of the permits with Us Weekly, sharing that it includes capacity for between 500 and 999 people.

Dora insisted that this isn’t uncommon for events of similar sizes, adding: “That just means they’re going to put proper protocols to make sure everyone’s safe and can get around.”

Anthony Jabin, who has spent time with Taylor at the Super Bowl, shed light on the wedding plans after confirming he was attending.

Speaking to TMZ, he explained that he was the plus one of a guest, and had a coveted physical invite – he said that the wedding and party will both take place on July 3 but not at the same venue.

Although the party is said to be taking place at MSG, Anthony claimed the smaller ceremony will be taking place elsewhere – but remained quiet about the location.

At a press conference held on Wednesday, AP reports that New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said that her department was tracking an event at the New York arena.

“The NYPD will, of course, have a detail in place, but I’m not going to go into more specifics at this time,” she said, while mayor Zohran Mamdani added: “We are fully prepared. There isn’t anything to share beyond that.”

The wedding will add to an extraordinarily busy few days for the city that never sleeps, as it will coincide with the July 4 celebrations and traditional fireworks display, as well as plans for America’s 250th anniversary.

In neighbouring New Jersey, the MetLife stadium will be hosting another World Cup fixture ahead of the final in mid-July.

People were seen getting to work at the venue, ahead of the rumoured ceremony. In fact, crew members were seen unpacking large trucks, filled with stage equipment, and boxes labelled “garden party” and “mirror ball”.

As well as this, workers were seen unrolling a large carpet down the steps in front of the arena, but this was swiftly removed.

If the wedding does take place at the stadium, Taylor and Travis wouldn’t be the first to walk down the aisle at the venue – Kathy Silva and Sly Stone wed there in 1974.

There are also suggestions that this could all be a huge decoy, and that the lovebirds will say their vows somewhere completely different. Considering Taylor’s love of an Easter Egg, we wouldn’t put it past her…

Guests

With just days to go until the ceremony, Graham Norton and his husband were seen arriving at JFK, ready to party with the happy couple.

The bride extended the invite last year during her appearance on the Graham Norton Show sofa, before they also shared the screen in her Opalite music video.

Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge was also spotted at the airport, while Dua Lipa, Anya Taylor-Joy and Sabrina Carpenter were pictured on the streets of New York this week.

Big names are also thought to be performing during the ceremony, as Page Six reports that Tim McGraw and Stevie Nicks will be getting on the stage – after Taylor donned a playful top embossed with the Fleetwood Mac icon’s name at a Knicks game just weeks ago.

According to reports, those lucky enough to nab invites have only been told that the nuptials will take place this week, at a venue in New York, but have no further guidance on the location.

“They’re putting their guests on hold for a couple days. They are spending a lot of money – in the millions,” an insider told Us Weekly.

Travis’ own NFL colleagues are also in the dark, as 49ers star George Kittle confessed to Entertainment Tonight that he has “no idea” of the actual plans.

“I actually asked Travis last night and he laughed at me,” he revealed. “I’m half expecting there just to be a jumbo jet on the runway and they put us on a plane somewhere. I don’t have expectations, I know it’s going to be amazing.”

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid, who has overseen much of Travis’ successful NFL career, will be among the guests, alongside Graham Norton and Suki Waterhouse. Ed Sheeran, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are also tipped to attend.

An insider added: “I’ve heard Taylor invited so many people it’s going to be bigger than the Met Gala.”

According to the outlet, Taylor and Travis also extended an invite to the entire “starting lineup for the Knicks”. Of course, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Jalen Brunson will be very familiar with the venue, which serves as their home court.

Bridesmaids

Considering how much Taylor has raved about her girl squad in previous years, it’s surprising that not much is known about her bridal party.

According to reports, she offered the coveted slots to a mix of famous faces and close childhood friends. The Sun reports that she asked long-time pal Gigi Hadid over dinner last November, a move that left the supermodel “thrilled”.

Selena Gomez also reportedly made the cut, with an insider claiming: “Taylor wants to start the wedding process this way – building her bridesmaid group and getting everyone involved in the preparations, celebrations, and planning.

“She wants it to be fun and memorable for everyone, with parties, trips, and time spent together leading up to the big day.”

The dress

Taylor is no stranger to a white dress, having donned crisp gowns on many a red carpet in the past – including a floor-length option with gold embellishments at the ACM Awards in 2008, and once again four years later.

She even wore a bridal gown while performing on stage at the BRIT Awards in 2013, while belting out I Knew You Were Trouble.

However, while it has been claimed that she has “several” options for her nuptials, she has picked a custom dress by Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson – who has dressed Rihanna, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence and Miley Cyrus in the past.
