Five AP Ministers in Singapore to Learn on Modern Governance

Vijayawada:A delegation of five ministers from Andhra Pradesh arrived in Singapore to study the modern styles of governance and development of basic amenities there, from April 21 to 27.

The delegation comprises K. Atchannaidu, Vangalapudi Anitha, Satya Kumar Yadav, Anagani Satya Prasad and BC Janardhan Reddy.

The Telugu association of Singapore gave them a grand welcome on Tuesday.

The ministers would attend a training programme on Singapore’s governance model and on leadership traits like political accountability and the ‘nation first’ concept.

The visit is part of the Singapore-AP Joint Institute for World Class’ pact signed between the Singapore government and the World Bank.

The AP delegation met Singapore’s foreign affairs, commerce and industry minister Gan Siow Huang and later attended a meeting in the presence of the Indian high commissioner in Singapore.

The discussions centered on bilateral trade, expansion of investments, basic amenities, logistics and renewable energy sectors. In addition, subjects like smart cities, urban planning, waste management etc were discussed as part of an urge for AP to avail Singapore’s skills and partnership in artificial intelligence (AI) and technology.

The Singapore government would provide training to the AP ministers’ team on modern administrative methods, models of urban and sustainable development.
