Auburn’s stat line may not be as juiced as their SEC rival’s, but they did have a quality win over Baylor in Week 1 before they got to wallop Southern Miss the following Saturday.
And crucially, the Tigers have the better quarterback in this matchup. No team will know that better than the Gators, who lost to Byrum Brown when he was under center for South Florida during their historic upset at the Swamp.
Brown was a one-man wrecking ball for USF, twice throwing for at least 3,000 yards and rushing for 1,000 more in the same campaign with the Bulls. His first game against Baylor was sloppy, but Brown looked back to his vintage self against Southern Miss and should give the Tigers a real chance to slow down the Florida hype train.
Florida, meanwhile, still has questions to answer at quarterback. Georgia Tech transfer Aaron Philo put together a pair of strong performances in his first two starts this season, but he needs to do it on the road against an SEC opponent.
