South Decatur and North Decatur celebrated Homecoming in Week 5 and both teams posted big wins in front of the home crowd.
The Cougars hosted Brown County and posted a 49-0 shut out win against the Eagles. South improved to 3-2 on the season and 2-1 in the Mid-Indiana Football Conference. Brown County drops to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

South opened the scoring with a Braxton Evans 10-yard touchdown pass to Leonidas Wall. On the Eagles’ next possession, a fumble was recovered by Ladd Hampton to get the ball back to South. With 4:01 left on the first quarter clock, South’s Krystian Rigby scored on a 33-yard run to push the lead to 14-0.
Evans connected with Kaiden Asche for a 20-yard touchdown to increase the lead to 21-0 with 7:52 to play in the second quarter. Four minutes later, Rigby scored on a 1-yard run and South led 28-0.
With 1:14 to play in the half, Evans found Aidan Bryant for the 35-yard touchdown to send the Cougars to the half with a 35-0 lead.
The second half had a running clock, limiting both teams. South added a touchdown by Wall and Evans in the second half to close out the 49-0 win.

Evans passed for 130 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for a touchdown. Rigby rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Kagen Wren rushed for 24 yards. Asche caught two passes for 55 yards and one touchdown. Bryant added the 35-yard touchdown catch. Wall caught four passes for 24 yards and a touchdown. Will Martin and Rigby both had one reception.
South hosts Paoli (2-3) in Week 6.
North improved to 3-2 on the season and 3-1 in the conference with a 42-6 victory against Switzerland County (1-4, 0-2 MIFC).
The Chargers scored 22 points in the second quarter. Simon Barber scored from 11 yards out. Matthew Fields connected with Spencer Sommers for the 35-yards touchdown and Barber returned an interception 45 yards for the score.

North led 22-0 at the break.
In the third quarter, Fields had a 1-yard TD run and Barber added a 4-yard TD run to push the lead to 36-0 heading to the fourth quarter with the running clock.
Switzerland County scored on an Aiden Mosley 2-yard run in the fourth quarter, but North answered with a Fields to Henry Kinker 5-yard pass to close out the 42-6 win.
Barber rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns and added 20 yards receiving. Hunter Nobbe added 59 yards rushing. Hayden Koehne rushed for 44 yards and caught a pass for 20 yards. Fields scrambled for 27 yards and passed for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Kinker and Sommers both had touchdown receptions. Brayden Murray and Kipton Ruf both caught one pass.

Koehne led the Chargers with 7.0 total tackles, including wo tackles for loss. Charlie Parmer added 5.5 total tackles with two tackles for loss. Barber had 5.5 total tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss.
North hosts Linton-Stockton (0-5) in Week 6.
Greensburg improved to 3-2 on the season with a 40-13 victory at South Dearborn (2-3).
The Knights held a 13-12 lead at the half, but Greensburg’s defense did not allow a second half point to the Knights. On the other side of the ball, the Pirates scored 28 points in the second half to roll to the win.
Greensburg’s Levi Muckerheide passed for 172 yards and two touchdowns and added 150 yards rushing with four touchdowns. Jayden Jackson-Ray rushed for 45 yards. Ryker Martin had 19 yards rushing and 27 yards receiving with a touchdown. Noah Martini added 14 yards rushing. Layton Henry caught four passes for 78 yards. Ethan Bishop had 37 yards receiving and one touchdown. Chance Westerfeld caught two passes for 24 yards and Myles McKinsey had six yards on one catch.

Jackson-Ray and Chance Richards led the Pirates’ defense with 11 total tackles each. Westerfeld added nine total tackles. Ethan Bennett, Logan Ortman and Esdras Mejia all had six total tackles.
Batesville battled Class 4A No. 1 East Central to a 17-6 first half score, but the Trojans pulled away with 21 second half points to win 38-6.
Zadiin Small rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown for the Bulldogs. Ajon Herbert had 19 yards rushing and Dylan Shane added 12 yards rushing. Jackson Elston caught two passes, and Jake Schornick caught one pass.
The Bulldogs’ defense was led by Clayton Kaiser with 19 total tackles. Kaden Vogelsang added 16 total tackles. Brycin Hoegeman had 11 total tackles, and Max Meyer added 10 total tackles.

Rushville was defeated 54-7 in the War on 44 game at Connersville. The Lions are 0-5 while the Spartans are 3-2.
Kai Pernell led the Lions on the ground with 107 yards rushing with a touchdown. Ryder Hatten had 24 yards rushing and 14 yards receiving. Keegan Pavey added 16 yards rushing and Blaine Casebolt had 14 yards rushing.
Hatten led the Rushville defense with four tackles. Cass Leisure, Jesse Ballenger, Pernell and Aiden Kamman all had three tackles.
