Actor Harry Parmar firmly believes that quality trumps quantity when it comes to the roles he chooses. This philosophy has guided him through his career, culminating in his recent portrayal of a terrorist codenamed Doctor in the Netflix series “IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.”
In preparing for this complex role, Parmar engaged in thorough research and character study. “As a trained actor, I have taken on a variety of characters. However, transitioning from real-life events to film requires significant preparation. I delved into relevant literature to authentically embody the character of a mastermind behind the hijacking,” he stated.
Working with acclaimed director Anubhav Sinha, Parmar found the filming experience enriching. “Anubhav sir provided invaluable insights that enhanced my performance. Filming inside the plane created an authentic atmosphere that truly brought out my best work.”
Parmar’s path to acting has been characterized by determination and a passion for the craft. He began his journey in theatre during college and later pursued a two-year diploma in theatre acting from Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts in Delhi. After relocating to Mumbai in 2002, he faced numerous challenges before landing his breakthrough role in “Laal Singh Chaddha.”
He emphasizes a selective approach to his career: “For me, the quality of any role is far more important than the number of roles I take on. I am at the beginning of my journey and intend to explore various genres while being strategic about my choices.”
To aspiring actors, Parmar offers sage advice: “Do not come to Mumbai with a strict timeline. Establishing yourself in this industry takes time, and there is no magic solution that will expedite your success. You must love your craft and cultivate patience.”
