Julian Kalusner for Dries Van Noten SS27 at the Paris Fashion Week show made a charming case for it—glamour was at the heart of this collection, but not in the conventional red-carpet sense. Klaunser imagined a Hollywood actress leaving the studio after a long day on set, heading home or meeting friends for drinks, still dressed in all her sparkle.

The idea came through in looks that felt effortlessly put together. The show opened with a khaki utilitarian coat with its sleeves rolled up—from mannish cardigans and belted skirts to striped knit vests worn over pastel t-shirts—the styling has a relaxed, almost spontaneous feel. Jewellery brought the looks to life, with layered colourful beaded necklaces and jewelled brooches in the shape of birds, flowers and stars adding a touch of sparkle to collars and waistlines.

Leopard print, a timeless symbol of diva dressing, appeared on sleeveless tops, bubble hem skirts, and coats finished with sheer overlays. Kalusner had a vision for graphic print for this collection—motifs of stars, flamingos, eyes and other motifs that looked airbrushed featured on blouses, pencil skirts and military style jackets.

One of the most distinctive elements in this collection was how Kalusner took reference to vintage cinema. Technicolour prints inspired by movie posters, complete with credits with bold lettering, appeared on silky dresses, belted satin coats and pencil skirts. The final tribute to the House’s Ravin Rose fragrance, while the silhouettes and embellishments drew on the glamour of the 1950s.

Footwear remained practical, with glitter pumps, colour-blocked peep toes and a new block-heeled moccasin adding subtle height. Pops of fuchsia, lime, lilac and cobalt brought further energy to the palette, keeping the collection bright and optimistic.

As Klausner’s show notes suggested, glamour did not have to be reserved for the red carpet. Instead, it could be part of the everyday, expressed through personal style and a playful approach to dressing.
