New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Mr Vikram Misri held discussions with Ms Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Special Envoy for India during his official visit to the United Arab Emirates from November 1-2.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the visit took place in the context of the regular, high-level engagement that characterises India-UAE relations and provided an occasion to take stock of progress of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
During his meeting with Ms Al Hashimy in Abu Dhabi, the FS reviewed the strategic bilateral partnership across the sectors and explored new avenues of cooperation.
They also exchanged views on regional and global developments and discussions covered the evolving situation in West Asia.
The Foreign Secretary also met Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi.
“The meeting offered an opportunity to explore closer institutional linkages and fresh avenues for cooperation in cultural and creative exchanges including the `House of India’, as well as tourism, which continues to bring the peoples of the two countries closer,” MEA said in a statement.
House of India is an ambitious joint project of India and UAE which will showcase Indian art, heritage, history, paintings, textiles and traditions in Abu Dhabi.
Mr Misri also interacted with Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Finance and Managing Director and Group CEO of L’IMAD Holding Company.
Their conversation centred on prospects for scaling up economic engagement, with a view to enhancing investment flows and building long-term commercial partnerships that benefit both economies.
“The visit underscored the mutual trust and strategic convergence that underpin India-UAE ties, and the shared resolve of both sides to impart further momentum to the partnership in the period ahead,” MEA said.
