Former Coronation Street star Cassie Bradley will star in the latest production of Practical Magic alongside Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman
A former star of Coronation Street star has bagged a huge role in a sequel of an iconic movie. Cassie Bradley will take up a role as a young witch called Hannah in Practical Magic.
Her character will see her magical abilities beginning to emerge. The powers set off huge events throughout as she comes to terms with trying to handle her actions. And she will star alongside huge names such as Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
The movie first came out in 1998. And now the soap actress, 32, is ready for the role. She had appeared briefly on the Corrie cobbles between January and June 2019. Her character, Natalie Watkins, though was quick to leave Weatherfield behind.
The former waitress turned to crime during her time in Weatherfield and was involved in a storyline about money laundering with David Platt. In it, she helped them to fleece £80,000 out of Audrey Roberts.
Practical Magic 2 is due to come out on September 11 in the UK. It returns almost three decades after the original.
Warner Bros dropped the first trailer for the film in April. It gave fans a glimpse at the long-awaited sequel ahead of its cinema release on later this year.
According to the official synopsis, the sequel “returns to a world steeped in moonlit mischief and powerful ancestral magic, as the Owens sisters must confront the dark curse that threatens to unravel their family once and for all in a must-see cinematic event of fun, magic and mayhem.”
Sandra, 61, and Nicole, 58, will both reprise their roles as Sally and Gillian Owens. And the story will pick up 25 years after the events from the first instalment.
Fans will also be delighted to see the return of familiar faces Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, as beloved aunts Frances and Jet, who are both looking extraordinarily good – clearly some witchcraft is at play.
The sequel also stars Kissing Booth star Joey King and Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams as Sally’s grown up daughters, along with Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod as their love interests.
Sadly though, one star won’t be returning. Last year, Evan Rachel Wood confirmed she would not be returning for the sequel. She wrote on social media: “I offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line. I was told they are recasting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans.
“It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.”
