NELLORE: Police arrested former MLA Kiliveti Sanjeevayya following a dispute over the election result in Ward 2 of Naidupeta Municipality in Tirupati district.
The YSRC candidate was initially declared elected after the first round of counting. However, following a request for a recount by the TD candidate, the result was revised and the TD candidate was declared the winner by a margin of six votes.
YSRC leaders objected to the revised result and demanded another recount. Former MLA Sanjeevayya attempted to reach the counting centre to press for a fresh recount but was stopped by police and arrested.
The development led to tension in the ward, with the counting and recounting process coming under scrutiny
