A four-year-old girl was killed and her parents sustained critical injuries after a cooking gas cylinder exploded at their house in Arabal village under Dharmasala police station limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Sunday.
The incident occurred at the house of Abhiram Mallik when the family was cooking. According to reports, gas began leaking from the cylinder’s pipe, triggering a fire. The woman noticed the leak and alerted her husband and neighbours, but the cylinder exploded before they could take any preventive measures.
The blast left the couple critically injured, while their four-year-old daughter died in the incident, plunging the family into grief.
Following the explosion, Dharmasala police and fire services personnel rushed to the village and launched a rescue operation. The injured couple was initially taken to Dharmasala for treatment and later shifted to Cuttack for advanced medical care due to the severity of their injuries.
The explosion triggered panic among local residents, who gathered near the house after the incident.
