During a recent side quest, Fox Sports’ Nick Wright, who co-hosts the network’s flagship Emmy-nominated television show “First Things First,” landed an earth-shattering payday at a recent poker tournament that featured a star-studded cast of pro poker stars, NBA players, and business moguls
Wright divulged to The Post in an exclusive interview how he sat down at a table with some poker legends and walked away with more than just his shirt – to the tune of $250,000.
The weekend started with Russell Westbrook’s famous charity poker event featuring a massive buy-in for NBA players, with the proceeds going to the “Why Not? Foundation.”
“Because of that, there were a lot of folks who aren’t always in Vegas at one time, so ‘No Gamble No Future’ wanted to put on a really big streamed game,” Wright explained.
Wright broadcasts live events for the poker program and has competed on the show over the years.
The event featured poker stars Antonio Esfandiari, “The Magician” — a Hall of Fame poker player — Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi and actress Jennifer Tilly, among others.
Due to some bailing on the event, Wright entered the mix.
He sat down with a relatively small sum of money compared to the rest of the table.
“Antonio is going to buy into this game for a quarter of a million dollars … I am going to sit with forty grand, which I understand these numbers are crazy and this is an enormous amount of money, but in this game it is not,” Wright explained.
Wright added that he beat Tilly by calling a big raise and bluff from the “Bride of Chucky” star with bottom pair to get him “off and running.”
He said: “The game is called. I bought in for 40 and I never rebought … and in front of me is $250,2000.”
Wright added that he doesn’t intend to buy himself anything too big.
“I will occasionally, from gambling winnings, buy myself a watch as like a trophy,” Wright explained, while admitting that his wife Danielle Wright has already bought some cool things for herself.

Wright has been a broadcaster for poker tournaments as a side gig for the last few years, though he’s also a bit of a sports bettor in his own right.
Last year he detailed to The Post how he wagered $10,000 to potentially win $2 million on the Timberwolves to win the NBA Finals.
While it came up short, he placed the bet before the line moved and it was a plus-end value wager at the end of the day.
