When asked about his decision to leave the Spanish capital, Gonzalez pointed some key reasons including the desire to make it elsewhere.
“I had closed a chapter there in Madrid, with Castilla, and I believed the best thing for me was to take that leap, wherever it might be,” he said (h/t Diario AS).
“Obviously, it’s normal for young goalkeepers not to play right away, no matter where they go, because I come from the Primera RFEF, a competition that has improved a lot in recent years, but it’s a big step. I feel very prepared to make that leap,” he added.

Gonzalez explained he had felt his time at Real Madrid academy had come to an end and it was time for a new challenge elsewhere.
“I felt that I had finished a stage, and Sevilla is one of the great clubs in Spain, a truly historic club, very good in every sense, and a real opportunity for me to compete and play in the coming years,” he said.

Gonzalez admitted it was quite painful to leave Valdebebas, as he hailed Real Madrid as the best club in the world.
However, the goalkeeper admitted it was his desire to join Sevilla and that he was drawn to the opportunity.

“It’s not easy to leave what is probably the best club in the world, but well, many times you have other dreams and my dream was to come to Sevilla, from the first moment I was very clear about it.
“I didn’t even have to think about it, it’s a place to continue growing and to be able to stay for a long time,” he concluded.
Gonzalez’s spell at Sevilla, though, has started off slowly, with his only appearance this season coming in Copa Del Rey. He is still comfortably behind Odysseas Vlachodimos in the pecking order.
However, the young Spaniard is confident he can soon fight for a place in the first-team and is ready to exercise patience.
