George and Amal Clooney have been forced to evacuate their home in France as wildfires ravage parts of Europe.
The couple have a home in the south-eastern town of Brignoles, but fires – are currently four times the size of Paris – have torn through parts of the country.
The Hollywood A-listers are among the 200,000 residents and tourists forced to flee.
People has reported that the Clooneys wrote a letter to Brignoles Mayor Didier Brémond addressing the destruction caused by the fires.
“Dear Didier, at this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment,” the letter began.
“As we evacuate Brignoles we want to emphasise two things, first we hope you and the people of our city are safe and second that Amal and I are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole.
“We love Brignoles and our friends who live there.”
The couple’s 172-hectare Domaine de Canadel in was purchased in 2021 for around $USD8.3 million, according to reports.
This has become their primary residence, where they live with their nine-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.
France is among the countries devastated by the wildfires.
The blazes, which have been fuelled by heatwaves across France, Spain and Greece and Portugal could soon spread to engulf “all of Europe” the EU’s emergency response chief has warned.
Speaking to reporters, Ms Zuber that 2026 could become the biggest fire season in European history, surpassing the record set last year.
She said that the next few days would be “very difficult” and warned the wildfire threat was shifting eastwards after devastating parts of France and the Iberian Peninsula.
“Italy will face risk at the beginning of August, and we will need to see what will happen with the Iberian Peninsula, because if (it is) there as well, we will have all Europe on fire.”
