The Mets can’t catch a break.
Francisco Alvarez was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right meniscus tear a day after leaving Tuesday’s 10-2 win over the Tigers in the sixth inning following an uncomfortable swing.
He was replaced by Luis Torrens behind the plate.
There is no timetable for his return, according to the team.
Alvarez’s addition to the IL means the team is now without four starters, with Francisco Lindor, Luis Robert Jr. and Jorge Polanco already on the shelf.
