Frankie Muniz says that the decision-makers of Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair told him not to post any behind-the-scenes photos from the set just yet, but then he remembered the lyrics of the theme song.

After so many years of speculation, teasing and annoyingly vague updates from Bryan Cranston, the revival series of the beloved working class sitcom Malcolm in the Middle is finally on its way, and Malcolm himself is thrilled to finally be reunited with his old family. That, of course, refers to series star Muniz, not to the character of Malcolm, who, according to the leaked plot details of Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, will be dragged back into his family’s chaos when his parents, Hal and Lois, summon him and his daughter back home for their 40th wedding anniversary party.

While Malcolm the character has ample reason to be anxious about reuniting with his parents and siblings, Muniz the actor couldn’t wait to get back on set with all his old co-stars – and he also couldn’t wait for the studio to give him an “all clear” on backstage promo posts.

While Muniz, Justin Berfield and Chris Masterson will reprise their roles as Malcolm, Reese and Francis respectively, Malcolm in the Middle fans will notice that Erik Per Sullivan, who played the younger brother Dewey during the sitcom’s original seven-season run, is conspicuously absent from the reunion photo. That is because Sullivan retired from acting in 2010, but actor Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will take over the role of Dewey in Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair.

When the Malcolm in the Middle revival series wrapped filming back in May, Muniz made another heartfelt post about what the return to the franchise meant to him, tweeting, “This experience was straight-up incredible—like stepping back into Malcolm’s wild world but with all the love and chaos cranked to 11. Reuniting with the cast, getting to know some new characters, laughing till it hurt, and making new memories on set felt like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from.”

“It went by so fast, like a blur of perfect moments. I wish it could go on forever,” Muniz continued, “I’m so happy to have gotten the chance to relive being on this show with a greater appreciation of what we were making knowing how many people around the world truly love Malcolm and his family.”

Of course, Malcolm in the Middle fans shouldn’t actually expect for the new series to go on forever – as Muniz noted and the revival title reinforced, life’s still unfair.
