Freddy Brazier’s ex girlfriend has claimed that his pocket bully was “mistreated” before it attacked him. The reality star, 21, who is the son of late Big Brother legend Jade Goody and This Morning presenter Jeff Brazier, was rushed to hospital last week after being mauled by his pet dog Pablo.
The canine is now in police custody and Freddy was given seven days – which is up on Tuesday – to find a suitable home for him otherwise he will be put down. Meanwhile, The Race Across The World star recently split from Holly Swinburn, with whom he has four-month-old Isla Jade, and now his former flame has spoken out and urged anyone who is able to take the dog in to do so before it is too late.
She wrote on Instagram: “This is Pablo. I had to give him to someone as I was struggling with a baby and a dog, he has been mistreated there and attacked them to protect himself.
“He’s the nicest dog and this is totally out of character for him. He wouldn’t hurt a fly. Please if anyone has a good home for Pablo message me! I don’t want to see him being put down and I can’t look after him and a baby by myself.”
Freddy initially sought treatment at St Thomas’ Hospital before a long wait prompted him to leave and he headed to Royal London Hospital the next day. Speaking publicly about the incident for the first time, Freddy said: “He hooked on to my arm. The dog was hanging off me.”
Detailing his extensive injuries, he said: “I couldn’t feel anything in my right arm. But then I saw blood coming out of my tracksuit. “I opened it to see a 3cm hole in my arm. It was terrifying. He was just a completely different dog. Honestly, when I picked him up from my nan’s and got him out of the room, I was scared. “
Following the incident, police took Pablo away and informed Freddy via a written letter that his dog would be put down if he could not find somewhere suitable for it to live within the next week, and time will run out on Tuesday.
Speaking to The Sun, he added: “I’ve never been scared of Pablo, but I was scared. The police arrived to take Pablo and I watched him get taken by the thing that goes around their neck. It was heartbreaking. I watched my dog get dragged into a police car. Pablo had to spend the night in a cell, bless him. That is s***.”
Freddy has been left unable to bend his arm and move it up and down, noting that it was all “extremely painful” for him to go through but is still insistent that he just wants his dog back, even though he is aware that is not likely to happen. Just days before the attack, it was reported that neighbours called the police after hearing screams when nan Jackiey Budden was also attacked by Pablo.
A neighbour reportedly heard cries coming from Jackiey as the pocket bully was left “gripping” onto her with its teeth. At the time, London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police are said to have attended the scene, but no criminal charges were brought. A source said: “It’s been a shocking few days.
During the first incident, Jackiey was home alone, and she was mauled – on this occasion, one of her panicked neighbours raised the alarm.”
Sources said it’s been “awful” for Freddy, who “absolutely adores Pablo,” adding that the dog is a huge part of his family. A spokesperson for Freddy told The Mirror: “Freddy is currently being treated – we will keep everyone updated on his recovery.”
Pocket bullies are identical to XL bullies but are exempt from the ban on the breed, which came into force in 2024, because they are shorter.
