VIJAYAWADA: Free film acting training programmes serve as a “big school” for aspiring artistes seeking opportunities in the cinema industry, Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation (APFDC) general manager Srinivasa Nayak said on Sunday.

He was speaking at the valedictory session of a free acting workshop organised at Ambedkar Kala Bhavan in Tenali. The three-day programme was conducted for aspiring actors from different parts of the state and concluded with certificates being presented to around 60 participants.

The meeting was presided over by organiser and MAA-AP founder D. Dilip Raja. Srinivasa Nayak said it was encouraging to see participants gaining basic knowledge and understanding of film acting through the workshop. He appreciated Raja’s transparent efforts towards the development of the film industry in Andhra Pradesh.

The APFDC official said the state government had taken note of such initiatives and that representatives of MAA-AP would be invited for discussions being held for the growth of the film sector.

Addressing the trainees, Dilip Raja explained the responsibilities involved in filmmaking, from actor to director. He said two participants from earlier workshops had gone on to become directors and cautioned aspiring artistes against fraudulent organisations and individuals collecting money in the name of auditions and film opportunities.
