Frozen pizzas sold at Walmart and Aldi have been recalled over a possible salmonella contamination.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a health alert on April 30 for several meat and poultry products containing recalled FDA-regulated dairy products that may be affected.

The list of products that have been recalled includes two types of Mama Cozzi’s frozen pizzas sold at Aldi.

In a May 1 update, the FSIS added a wider range of products, including Great Value’s Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch and Stuffed Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch, which are sold at Walmart

A spokesperson for Walmart told USA Today that the health and safety of its customers is “always a top priority.”

“We have issued a sales restriction and removed this product from our impacted stores,” the spokesperson added. “We are working with the supplier to investigate.”

Customers who have these products in their refrigerator or freezer are urged not to consume them and instead throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Retailers have been instructed not to serve or sell them, the FSIS said.

The FSIS said they were notified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that multiple FSIS-regulated establishments received FDA-regulated ingredients that contained dry milk powder that had already been recalled.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions to the consumption of these products, the FSIS said, and anyone concerned about a reaction should contact their healthcare provider.

Consumption of food contaminated with salmonella can cause salmonellosis, one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses, according to the FSIS.

Common symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever within six hours to six days after eating a contaminated product. The illness usually lasts four to seven days.
