Gabby Logan has reflected on a major milestone in her personal life as she prepares for one of the biggest professional challenges of her broadcasting career

Gabby Logan has opened up about her long-lasting marriage to husband Kenny Logan, admitting she once felt “paranoid” about discussing their relationship publicly in case she tempted fate.

The broadcaster, who is preparing for one of the biggest moments of her career at this summer’s FIFA World Cup, revealed that reaching two decades of marriage finally made her feel more comfortable speaking about their relationship.

“When we got to our 20th wedding anniversary, I thought: ‘OK, it looks like we’re gonna stay together. Well, never say never’,” she told The Sun.

The 53-year-old presenter has been married to former Scotland rugby international Kenny Logan, 54, for 25 years after the pair first met in a bar in 1999. They married two years later and welcomed twins Reuben and Lois in 2005.

Despite becoming one of broadcasting’s most enduring couples, Gabby admitted she was once reluctant to discuss their marriage publicly.

“When I was much younger, I used to feel a bit paranoid about saying too much,” she explained.

However, she said circumstances changed after Kenny was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2022 following her encouragement to undergo testing.

“But Kenny got prostate cancer and then we did a podcast about it, so that ship sailed!”

The couple’s silver wedding anniversary will coincide with a major professional milestone for Gabby, who is set to become the first woman to anchor a men’s FIFA World Cup final for the BBC.

Unfortunately, the historic occasion means work will take precedence over anniversary celebrations on the day itself.

Reflecting on the clash of dates, she joked: “It is a big one – the anniversary, not the football. I’ll be working, but we will celebrate at some point.”

The World Cup marks another landmark chapter in a career that has enjoyed a remarkable year. Gabby recently stepped into an expanded role on Match of the Day alongside Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates, while also collecting a TV BAFTA for the BBC’s coverage of UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

Now she is preparing for her eighth men’s World Cup.

“It’s mad. This is the eighth World Cup I’ve covered,” she said. “That’s not including the women’s World Cups.”

Much of the BBC’s coverage will be presented from Media City in Salford, with Gabby insisting viewers will not lose out despite presenters remaining in the UK for most of the tournament.

She described the decision as “eminently sensible” and pointed to the success of the corporation’s award-winning coverage of last year’s Women’s Euros as proof that audiences can still enjoy a first-class broadcast.

Gabby is also excited by the BBC’s new technology, which will allow viewers to feel closer to the action taking place across the three host nations, Canada, Mexico and the United States.

“What I’m very excited about is we’ve got a new state-of-the-art, immersive studio,” she said. “It will transport viewers to the 16 cities across the three host nations – Canada, Mexico and the USA.”

“It’s going to look amazing, but I’m excited that there’s nothing I can’t wear any more. With the old screen, there were so many restrictions. Finally, I can wear anything!”
