Gadag: An Assistant Executive Engineer with the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL), who went missing from Gadag after travelling to Bengaluru for an official meeting, has been traced to Mumbai, Gadag police said.
Parveez Dharwad, a resident of Nisarga Layout near Hatalgeri Ring Road in Gadag, went missing on September 13. His father, Jafarsab Dharwad, lodged a complaint with Betageri Layout police, who registered a missing person case.
During the investigation, police found a letter written by Parveez to the KRIDL managing director, citing fund shortages and pressure over pending payments. He said the diversion of funds for nearly three years had stalled several works, while dues from other departments remained unpaid. He also alleged that Group Leaders had pressured him over payments, with some visiting his house and creating a scene at the office. In the letter, he wrote, “Nobody is responsible for my death. I have failed to manage the situation.” He urged the authorities to resolve the fund shortage and ensure that his family was not harassed.
The police formed special teams under the guidance of Gadag Deputy Superintendent of Police Murtuza Khadri and gathered technical information to trace him. The teams searched for him in Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
On October 22, the police received information that Parveez was near Bandra railway station in Mumbai. A team traced him and brought him back to Gadag.
According to police, Parveez had left home after writing the letter due to work pressure. He said he had taken money from home and travelled across several northern states to avoid being traced. Technical analysis like mobile signals and CCTV footage are said to have helped the police in tracing him.
He was found to be in good health. After questioning him and completing the investigation, the police handed him over to his relatives.
Gadag Superintendent of Police commended the team for its efforts in tracing the missing man.
