VISAKHAPATNAM: The 618th jayanthi celebrations of saint poet Tallapaka Annamacharya were marked by a literary release in Vizianagaram, where noted linguist and commentator Garikapati Narasimha Rao unveiled his 26th book, Kalyana Geetha Govindam, on May 1 at the Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple.
The book provides detailed commentary on rare words in 32 Kalyana Sankeerthanalu, compositions by Annamacharya celebrating the marriage of Lord Venkateswara. Garikapati, popularly known as Vyakhyana Visharada, also elaborated on the Saptagiri Sankeerthanalu presented during the event.
The programme, organised by Shri Guru Narayana Kala Peetham under the leadership of musician B.A. Narayana, featured a 12-hour Sankeerthana Archana with devotional renditions of Annamacharya’s compositions.
Paying tribute, Garikapati said the Telugu community remains indebted to Annamacharya for shaping the Telugu song tradition. The event drew several music and literary personalities from across the Telugu states.
