Gemma Collins has jumped to the defence of I’m A Celebrity campmate Adam Thomas in a moving social media post as she vows to protect the soap star and her ‘lovely friend’

Gemma Collins has vowed to stand by her “bestie” Adam Thomas after the soap star was left in tears by David Haye. Shortly before the public watched the former Emmerdale man hit back at the former boxer for picking away at him for 48 hours, Gemma took to Instagram to share a heartwarming message.

Uploading a clip of David calling Adam out for avoiding a trial, Gemma said: “We must protect my lovely friend @adamthomas21 at all costs ! NEVER BE AFRAID TO PROTECT YOUR BESTIE @imacelebrity.”

She went on to say: “Loyalty isn’t loud, it’s solid. It’s showing up, backing them in rooms they’re not in, and keeping their name sparkling clean like a diamond under pressure.”

And the GC ended by saying: “Because a real one doesn’t just stand beside you… they stand for you.” The words were met with support in the comments section. Among those responding, a follower insisted: “Everyone needs a Gemma.”

It comes after Adam’s emotional statement a day earlier. Alongside an image from the show, which was filmed towards the end of last year in South Africa, Adam wrote: “Not going to lie, this picture breaks my heart, as I know on the inside what I was dealing with and truth be told I thought it was all my fault. I now know that’s not the reality… My time in I’m a Celebrity South Africa was one of the toughest things I’ve ever been through, physically, mentally, and emotionally.”

He went on to say that he is now in a much better place. However, he revealed how David “broke” him in camp. Adam said: “He broke me in there, he pushed me to my limits, and I’ve told David this and he’s apologised and that’s that! I’ve moved on now, am not one to hold a grudge.”

On Monday’s episode, viewers watched on as Adam got emotional as he told David to stop targeting him. After Adam noted that it wasn’t that cold the previous night, David jibed: “It’s all the warm love everyone’s been giving you. You feel all f***ing toasty.”

When Adam noted that everyone had been nice, David doubled down and told his camp mate: “Someone has to keep it real. I spent my whole life trying not to be in that place of fainting or losing consciousness or whatever. It feels like you’re trying to get to it, so comfortably.”

Adam hit back: “No I’m fighting not to get to it, and you’re not helping.” And as talk turned to the trial, David continued his verbal ‘attack’ on Adam, continuing: “He didn’t have the mental strength not to itch an itch.”

“You weren’t well though, was you?” David smirked before Adam told him to shut up. He fumed: “Shut up man. All day every day for two days straight. Just chill.

“Enough is enough now. I don’t get it though, why are you coming for me for two days straight?”

Trying to defend himself, David said: “I’m trying to be caring, it’s like a big brother caring for a little brother.” But Adam was having none of it and said: “You’re not being caring bro. Have a day off.”

After being voted off the show, David admitted to Ant and Dec in his exit interview that he “probably” had pushed his “banter” a bit too far when it came to Adam.
