It’s been a while since Geno Smith was with the Seattle Seahawks. But, he’s looking like his old self this season with the New York Jets, and that’s a good thing.

Yes, the Jets are 1-2 going into Week 4. Even though that’s not ideal, it took them weeks to even get one win last season, so it’s a major improvement. What’s even better is that Smith is impressing on the field.
In a tally for CBS Sports, Garrett Podell ranks each of the NFL’s quarterbacks. “These rankings are fluid and designed to tell the story of each starting quarterback’s respective rise and/or fall throughout the season,” he says.
Geno Smith is looking strong on the field
He ranks Smith No. 11 on the tally. That’s fantastic, out of all 32 quarterbacks.
“Geno Smith has turned the clock back to his Seattle Seahawks, Pro Bowl prime in his second stint with the New York Jets,” he notes in the piece. “Smith is fresh off throwing for 321 yards and three passing touchdowns on 31 of 37 passing in a narrow 31-24 defeat against the Detroit Lions in Week 3.”

Add to that how Smith, according to Podell, is No. 1 in the NFL in completion percentage at 75.5% and ranks fifth in passer rating at 110.0, and you have an impressive set of numbers.
“Quarterbacking is now an old man’s game in the NFL,” he adds, which makes sense looking at guys like Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford still on the field.
So, Smith is trending in the right direction after an off season with the Raiders. It’s the perfect time for the Jets.
