She was asked what she would say to him if it were their last interaction. She candidly answered the question without holding back her true feelings. Marcia said she felt like tearing up at the thought of it. She wanted to chat with George while sitting on a bench, just like old married couples. Marcia shared her regret regarding the lost chance of ageing with him and stated:

“I’d be very, very sad. We are getting up there in age. Unfortunately, when you get married, you always believe you’re going to be the old people sitting on the bark bench…but we didn’t get there.”

Her remark made host, Michael Pennington suggest her ways to reconnect with George, including writing him a letter or sending him an email. The host stated, “You have a million friends in common”, and wanted Marcus to utilise that. Now, with Marcus’ demise, her wish and regret resurfaced.

According to a statement shared by Marcia Lucas’ family attorney, Deidre Von Rock to PEOPLE, the 80-year-old died of metastatic cancer. The Oscar-winning film editor passed away on May 27, 2026, at her home in Rancho Mirage, California, as per the statement. They recalled her as being a pioneering figure among women in the field of film editing. According to them, her work will serve as a blueprint for future generations to come. The exact words of the statement were:

“Marcia was a force. A true trailblazer for women in film and one of the most influential editors in cinematic history; she helped redefine what film editing could be and paved the way for generations of women who followed.”
