The GHMC said it had launched a special monsoon sanitation drive that will go on till June 25 to remove legacy waste including municipal solid waste, construction and demolition waste, green waste silt caused by the recent rains from roadsides, nalas, lake margins, footpaths, parks and other locations. The special cleaning will be carried out daily from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm, after the regular sanitation activities in the respective wards, so that the routine cleaning of the city is not disrupted.
