Ghost boat riddle: Empty ski boat washes up on Queensland beach

A search by land and air has returned no results after a vessel washed ashore on an island in North Queensland.

The ski boat was found about 5.30pm on Saturday at Horseshoe Bay on Magnetic Island.

Police used a helicopter to search the area about 7pm, but no one was found.

The helicopter was not tasked to resume the search on Sunday, but officers were examining the vessel for clues.

The boat is a 16-foot green and white fibreglass ski boat, fitted with an outboard motor.

Anyone who recognises the boat or may have information in relation to its owner and their whereabouts is urged to contact police.
