Posey didn’t mince words during his interview with KNBR on Thursday.
Three weeks ago, a KNBR producer unknowingly shared his honest feelings on Buster Posey during a live segment of the morning show “Murph & Markus.”
“Posey sucks, man,” the unnamed producer said while testing out a microphone.
For the first time since the hot mic moment, Posey returned as a guest on the show and left no doubt that he had heard what the KNBR employee said.
“Make sure the mics aren’t hot before you talk trash about me,” Posey said as his parting words before leaving the studio.
Host Markus Boucher and guest host John Dickinson didn’t bat an eye, however. Boucher laughed it off and reassured Posey the hot mic incident wouldn’t happen again.
Posey has been the recipient of much criticism over the course of the Giants’ 2026 season because of his handling of the team as well as the media. San Francisco has struggled significantly under first-year manager Tony Vitello and were active sellers at the trade deadline because of their disastrous performance.

“Yeah, we’ll make sure the behind-the-scenes boys don’t press any hot mics. Appreciate you. Love you, Buster. Thank you, man. Buster Posey with the mic drop. Yea, his mic was hot for that one,” Boucher said.
But beyond the team’s spiral, Posey has looked inadequate or ill-prepared in front of the media, specifically following the Giants’ LGBTQ Pride Night controversy where he had no answers for reporters on the situation.
This week, however, Posey seemed primed to issue a response and he did just that on Thursday to conclude his KNBR interview.
