Gnarls Barkley just announced their first tour in 18 (!) years.
The run, which Cee-Lo Green and Danger Mouse have dubbed the To Whom It Still Concerns Tour, will send the indomitable hit-making pair to venues all over North America this November.
That includes a stop at New York City’s Irving Plaza on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
“We will be performing some of our iconic hits along with songs from our new album ‘Atlanta,’ the two-time Grammy-winning group shared on Instagram. “It’s going to be an incredible time, and we want you to be a part of it.”
“Atlanta,” Barkley’s recently-released third studio album, hit shelves in March. The sun-drenched, 13-track record didn’t make as much noise as 2006’s “St. Elsewhere” or 2008’s “The Odd Couple” but is chock-full of funky, soulful anthems like “Line Dance,” “The Be Be King” and “Accept It” among others.
As for their aforementioned iconic hits, just a few of the group’s biggest songs from way back when include “Who’s Gonna Save Your Soul,” “Run (I’m A Natural Disaster),” “Smiley Faces,” “Going On” and, of course, “Crazy.”
At their last show, the twosome performed 14 songs at the 2008 Austin City Limits Festival closed the show with a cover of Radiohead’s “Reckoner,” according to Set List FM.
“[They] walked on stage, [with Green] donning a black cardinal’s robe, accompanied by a full band clad in black tuxedoes and maroon bow ties,” Austin Town Hall reported.
“Cee-Lo’s melodic voice over Danger Mouse’s beats, laced with addicting sound effects (in this case a children’s xylophone), make [‘Charity Case’] a fantastic representation of the mellower sound that is found on ‘The Odd Couple.’”
Over the course of their hiatus, CeeLo has released four albums (2010’s “The Lady Killer,” 2012’s “Cee Lo’s Magic Moment,” 2015’s “Heart Blanche” and 2020’s “CeeLo Green Is Thomas Callaway”) and made waves with his runaway hit “F— You!”
Danger Mouse has also steadily worked, collaborating with artists as varied as The Shins’ James Mercer of The Shins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O and The Roots’ Black Thought.

Gnarls Barkley new music
On March 6, Gnarls Barkley released their third studio album “Atlanta.”
We’re happy to report they haven’t lost the plot (even if there’s less chaos and more cohesion than in their earlier work).
“Tomorrow Died Today,” the triumphant first track on the album, quickly establishes the duo’s singular jubilant yet melancholy sound. It’s spaced-out soul full of oddball yet deeply sad lyrics, handclaps, powerhouse vocals and blissful instrumentals. Simply put, the fellas are back and more than happy to reflect on their long, long time away from the spotlight.
Other major highlights on the 13-track offering include the snappy “I Amnesia” (also indirectly referencing Barkley’s extended hiatus), groovy, slinky “Line Dance,” toe-tapping, Motown-esque “Turn Your Heart Back On,” downbeat, in your feels “Let Me Be” and the speedy, danceable “The Be Be King.”
Yet, our favorite tune here has to be Accept It,” which closes the album. Reminiscent of “Thriller” era Michael Jackson, the song is a throwback party-starter that is impossible not to get down to. CeeLo gives a vocal performance on par with anything else from his deep catalog and Danger Mouse’s nasty — almost haunting — bass line is the perfect complement. We can’t wait to hear this one live.

Why is CeeLo Green controversial?
He’s gotten in a bit of legal trouble over the years.
From ’12-’14, he was accused of sexual battery, plead not guilty to a controlled substance felony charge and plead no contest to furnishing ecstasy. Another notable blemish on his resume came after he tweeted about his sexual battery case before quickly apologizing and saying “those comments were idiotic, untrue and not what I believe.”
In 2015, Green released an album that he said ” is all about the adornment, the upliftment, the exaltment and the appreciation of all things women.”
