Kakinada:Temples across six Godavari districts are preparing for Dasara Navaratri festivities from October 11 to 20, with colourful illumination, barricades and queue lines being arranged to regulate the movement of devotees.

Major centres of attraction include the Bala Tripura Sundari temple in Kakinada, Vasavi Matha temple in Penugonda, Mavullamma temple in Bhimavaram, Mardimma temple in Peddapuram, temples in Amalapuram, the Ayyappa Swamy temple in Kakinada and temples in Eluru. Celebrations are expected to be held from 5 am to 9 pm.

At the Bala Tripura Sundari temple, pujas will continue until noon each day during the nine-day festival. The Devi Utsava Committee in Rajamahendravaram and several peethams, including Bhuvaneswari Peetham in Peddapuram, Raja Rajeswari Peetham in Bikkavole and Sree Peetham in Kakinada, have also made arrangements. The presiding deities will be worshipped in different alankaras each day, depicting various forms of the goddesses.

Ayyappa Swamy temple organiser P. Gopalakrishna said daily rituals would begin at 7 am with Gou Puja, Shiva Abhishekam, Kumkum Puja, Bala Puja, Suhasini Puja, Chandi Homam, Pushpanjali and special haratis. Special arrangements have been made for women to participate in Kumkum Pujas, he said.

Bhuvaneswari Peetham founder Ch. Gopi Sarma Siddanti said various homams and pujas would be performed at Peddapuram from 8 am to 4 pm, with couples also able to participate.

Raja Rajeswari Peetham founder Devarabhotla Prabhakara Sarma said the celebrations would continue from Padyami Thithi to Pournami Thithi, instead of ending on Dasami. The goddess would be presented in different avatars each day, he said.

Sree Peetham seer Sri Paripoornanda Saraswati said the peetham would conduct a Maha Shakthi Yagam and 100-crore Kumkumarchana. The organisers have increased the venue’s capacity by 50 per cent compared with previous years, with thousands of women and devotees from India and abroad expected to attend.

Registrations for the Kumkumarchana had exceeded the initial target, prompting a temporary suspension of the process. Registrations may reopen depending on demand and arrangements to accommodate additional participants, he said.

The peetham has around 2.5 lakh devotees across India and aims to expand its reach to 10 lakh, he said. Devotees who have attended its spiritual discourses or received Mantra Deeksha during tours across various states and overseas, including the United States, are also expected to participate.

Kumkumarchana for women has been organised by the peetham for the past 27 years. A Maha Yagam is planned for 2030, when the organisers aim to complete 1,000 crore Kumkumarchanas, he said.
