HYDERABAD: Joint commissioner of police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis stressed the importance of “golden hour” in saving lives during road accidents. He was speaking at an awareness programme organised at Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills, as part of the Arrive Alive campaign on Friday.
The programme, conducted by Jubilee Hills traffic police, was attended by ambulance drivers, volunteers and community members. Davis said the first 60 minutes after an accident are critical, as timely medical help can prevent deaths and serious injuries. In cases such as cardiac arrest, the first 10 minutes are even more crucial, with CPR often saving lives. He emphasised that drivers of autos, cabs and buses should be trained to provide immediate first aid.
He added that those helping accident victims during the golden hour will be rewarded under the Good Samaritan scheme with ₹25,000 and a certificate.
Traffic II DCP Kajal Singh cautioned against negligent and drunk driving, urging motorists to adopt defensive driving. Additional DCP C. Venugopal Reddy, ACP K. Hari Prasad, inspectors from Jubilee Hills traffic police station, and doctors from Apollo Hospital also participated in the programme.
