HYDERABAD: Three 20-year-old peltophoru trees that had reportedly been obstructing vehicular movement on Temple Alwal Road were relocated to Alwal Hills in a coordinated operation by traffic and civic authorities, that eased congestion while retaining the city’s green cover.
The relocation took place under the supervision of the DCP Traffic-1, with support from the forest department and the GHMC’s urban biodiversity wing.
G. Shankar Raju, ACP, Traffic, Trimulgherry, said the department carried out the exercise after securing all permissions. “The three trees were carefully translocated to Alwal Hills,” he said, adding that branches were trimmed to make the shifting process safer and more manageable.
Officials stated that the move addressed commuter safety concerns without removing mature trees. The operation formed part of ongoing junction improvement and traffic management measures in the area. Authorities said the trees were shifted with care to help them adapt to the new location. Regular monitoring has been planned to check their growth and survival.
