Arda Güler scored once and set up another as José Mourinho’s Real Madrid beat Valencia 3-0 to reach 30 points, level with Barcelona, before the international break. Valencia are second from bottom in their last season at Mestalla.
Federico Valverde put Madrid ahead at Mestalla in the 28th minute on Saturday 7 November 2026. Güler doubled the lead eight minutes later. Jude Bellingham reached the byline and pulled the ball back. Güler met it first time and finished with his right foot.

Güler could have had more. Stole Dimitrievski stopped him twice: a strong shot from the edge of the area in the 43rd minute and a one-on-one in the 54th.
Kylian Mbappé’s strike in the 75th minute made it three. That goal stretched his scoring run to seven matches in a row. He has 12 league goals, three behind Barcelona’s Raphinha at the top of the scoring chart.
Madrid dominated every measure at Mestalla
The visitors had 68% of the ball and completed 568 passes to Valencia’s 225. They took 19 shots, 11 of them on target. Valencia managed four shots and just two on target. Expected goals finished 2.39 to 0.26 in Madrid’s favour.

The hosts’ best moment came around the 20th minute. Aaron Mayol won the ball just outside the area and forced Thibaut Courtois to stretch for a save. Aguirre sent on Luis Rioja for Justin de Haas at half-time, but the pattern did not change.
The game grew bad-tempered. Valencia committed 26 fouls to Madrid’s six, and Aguirre himself was booked for dissent in the 59th minute. In the club’s own view, the punishment for Gayà’s challenge on Mbappé was harsh. Seven yellow cards were shown in all, four of them in a two-minute spell after the red card.
Valencia’s farewell season at Mestalla is turning sour
Two wins from 12 league games is all Valencia have to show so far. Only Malaga, on 5 points, are below them. Aguirre has one win from his five league games in charge. The club is already promoting season-ticket prices for the new Nou Mestalla.

The coach is concerned about the home form. Aguirre told EFE he was worried about failing to win any of his three matches at Mestalla. He added that Valencia were short of points with six games left in the first half of the season.
Madrid’s run has kept them in a three-way race at the top. Barcelona have played 11 games to Madrid’s 12 and sit top on goal difference. Atlético Madrid are third, two points behind with a game in hand.
Valencia return to action first. They face UE Tavernes in the Copa del Rey first round on Tuesday 10 November at 9pm at Camp de Mestalla. The tie was rearranged after the RFEF called off every Cup match on its original date following a fatal rail accident in Toledo. Madrid host Celta Vigo in LaLiga on Sunday 22 November.
