Gurmeet Choudhary Got Emotional Sharing Debina’s Multiple Miscarriages, ‘Doctors Ne Mana Kar Diya’

Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee are one of the much-loved couples in the television world. The duo got married in 2006, at a temple, and it was in 2011 that they announced their wedding. A decade later, the couple renewed their wedding vows as per Bengali tradition. Debina and Gurmeet have two daughters. However, their life was not a bed full of roses for Debina, who struggled a lot to conceive.

Debina Bonnerjee has been open about her IVF journey after suffering from endometriosis and adenomyosis, about which she has been open and talked extensively. Well, in a recent interview, Debina’s husband, Gurmeet, turned emotional as he talked about the actress’s journey to become a mom. Debina welcomed her first daughter after a decade of marital bliss, and it was through IVF, well, after three months of the same, the actress naturally conceived for the second time, and eventually welcomed their second daughter.

Debina Bonnerjee had to go through multiple miscarriages before embracing motherhood. Recently, Gurmeet sat for an interview on the reality show Tum Ho Naa, hosted by Rajeev Khandelwal. In a video from the show, the actor looked emotional as he said that they welcomed their two babies 10-11 years after their wedding. He further added that all the doctors gave up and said ‘no’, while Debina faced multiple miscarriages, but now they have two kids. Gurmeet could be quoted as saying:

“Humari shaadi ke 10-11 saal baad bacchein hue, bahut dafa miscarriage aur bahut try kia humne sab doctoron ne mana kar diya tha ki kuch nahi ho sakta. 10-11 saal ke baad humari 2 choti-choti betiyaan hain.”

Debina Bonnerjee spoke about welcoming her first child after a rough journey

Debina Bonnerjee has always been vocal about her journey. To her, her first daughter is a miracle, and it’s totally understandable. In an interview with HT, she has earlier spoken about her tough path to motherhood. She said that her first daughter, Lianna, is a miracle, and even though her path to pregnancy was really tough, when she saw her daughter’s face for the first time, it was all worth it.

In the same interview, she mentioned that the pressure of having a kid could only be understood by a mom and a couple who have struggled with the same. Debina further talked about multiple women going through the same struggles for ages and years, while adding that she is grateful that she could finally hold her baby close to her after a whole lot of struggles.

Debina Bonnerjee had undergone five IVF cycles

To mention, Debina, on her YouTube vlogs, often talks about her journey. In one of the AMA sessions, Debina was asked by a female fan about the IVF process, stating that she had lost her twins due to miscarriage. Well, Debina revealed it all and shared her experience. She mentioned that she had undergone 4 IUI and 5 IVF cycles in 5 years. She also added that each IVF cycle had cost her Rs 2 lakh (in the early 2020s). She further advised that one should have these cycles after a certain gap and avoid doing back-to-back. Well, she had been vocal about the process she had gone through, which finally led her to be pregnant at the age of 37. In one such interaction, Debina said:

Over a period of 5 years, I have tried 4 IUI and 5 IVFs cycles. It is better not to do back to back procedures, take a few months break in between. Finally I conceived at the age of 37 so it was not the easiest path as we all know. Each IVF cycle costs you around 2 lakhs, starting from the injections to the egg retrieval to the transfer, the number of times you get it done, the cost increases accordingly. With that, add the cost of your tears, patience and time as there’s a lot of emotional investment. But when you see your baby smile for the first time, it is just worth it.”
