Hall & Oates star Daryl Hall was inundated with support from fans after revealing that he underwent a kidney transplant.
Hall & Oates star Daryl Hall has shared a health update with fans after quietly undergoing a kidney transplant. The 79-year-old, who previously performed with bandmate John Oates, issued a statement on Instagram on Tuesday, explaining that he went under the knife “a couple of weeks ago”.
Taking to his social media page, the Out of Touch singer began: “I thought you should know that I recently received a kidney transplant from a very kind and generous living donor.
“It happened a couple of weeks ago, and I’m already starting to feel better. It was, according to my doctors, a complete success! I should be back to normal in a few months, so get ready for more music and lots of Daryl’s House shows. You all take care!”
Although Daryl didn’t give any further details over what led to his surgery, fans quickly flooded the comments below, wishing him a speedy recovery. One commented: “Wow, I could not be happier to hear this! Praying for a full and complete recovery for you, Daryl.”
“Prayers for you Daryl, thanks for the update. Many of us have been worrying about you in what seems a long absence. Please take care and heal well,” another replied.
“I am SO sorry to hear this but glad to know you’re on the mend! I had been thinking that you’ve been very quiet lately. This is not what I was expecting,” an Instagram user agreed. “Please accept my sincere thoughts and good wishes for a swift recovery.”
As a social media follower added: “Oh My Dear Daryl, I’ll be praying for you to have a successful recovery. My Best wishes and positive vibes for you, D. Thank you so much for sharing.”
While it is not clear when Daryl will be returning to the studio, his last album came in 2024, with the release of D.
His latest live performance was last August when he took to the stage at the Minnesota State Fair. However, he has no plans to reunite with former bandmate John Oates anytime soon, after they announced their music separation in 2023.
“As time went on, as we both got older and our life experiences changed, our relationships changed, then we started to not have the same goals anymore,” his bandmate previously declared. “That’s really what happened.”
